Debra Powers
Debra Powers received a B.A., magna cum laude, from University of Richmond, and her J.D. from University of Virginia, where she was a member of the editorial board of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal. She was admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and Virginia in 1995. After receiving her law degree, Debra was a legal analyst and editor with Lexis Law Publishing.
Since 1999, Debra’s practice has concentrated on matters of family law in Fairfax Circuit Court and the surrounding jurisdictions. She focuses on negotiating and drafting separation agreements, and she regularly appears in court for motions and trials involving all aspects of divorce and post-divorce litigation.
Debra is an active member of the Virginia State Bar, Fairfax Bar Association, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. She served as President of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association, Northern Virginia Chapter, and has been on the board since 2002. She is Chair of the Family Law Section of the VTLA. Debra received the Fairfax Bar Association President’s Award in 2003 and 2008. She also serves on the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Committee.
